Oolites are round balls of limestone/dolomite that formed during the Devonian Period. The black dots are petroleum which were trapped by the oolites. When the Allegheny Mountains rose from the ancient seas, they hardened to chert. Indiginous inhabitants used this hard stone to make tool such as arrowheads. We discovered this stone with the guidance of Penn State University professor Dr. Barry Scheetz's help and extend our gratitude. The symbols on the Size "B"  bead cap stand for: Bear Paw = good omen; broken arrow= peace; feather= mark of honor; the mountain range means both abundance & stands for the Allegheny Mountains within which they lie.
